The watchmaking house Longines has long accustomed us to its numerous partnerships with major sporting events: the latest, in chronological order, sees it playing a leading role alongside the 2009 World Alpine Ski Championships of the International Ski Federation (FIS), in Val d'Isère, France, (2-15 February), as Official Watch and Timekeeper. This is also an opportunity for the Maison to encourage Aksel Lund Svindal (pictured), Longines Ambassador of Elegance currently leading the overall World Cup standings. The formidable skier surprised everyone by winning the downhill at Beaver Creek, the same slope that was the scene of his injury in 2007. On the heels of his exploit, Svindal gave an encore with the Super-G.
