The perpetual calendar chronograph is one of the classics of Patek Philippe production since 1941 (the first reference was the 1518), as well as of haute horlogerie more generally. A classic, almost conservative watch. At least so far, however, because the latest version of the 5270 with its bright green, lacquered and shaded dial echoes the style of its great predecessors but undoubtedly adds a more contemporary personality.
In the tradition of Patek chrono-perpetuums, the Ref. 5270 first came onto the scene in 2011: it changed the mechanics by adopting the column-wheel chronograph calibre designed entirely in-house, to which the perpetual calendar module was added for the first time. In this latest version of the 5270 with its green dial, in addition to the colour, there are other minor updates, such as the renunciation of the tachymeter scale on the flange and the leaf-shaped hand, replaced by facetted Dauphine-style hands. The chrono seconds sphere also changes, now made of Pfinodal, a copper and nickel-based alloy.
The platinum case (a very difficult material to work with) has a diameter of 41 mm. The visible case back shows the exquisite finishing of the manual CH 29-535 PS Q calibre. The watch is completed by a black alligator strap with green stitching. Ref. 5270P-014 replaces Ref. 5270P-001 and joins the two versions in yellow and pink gold already in the collection.
