The 'heroic' time of Unimatic

Unimatic for L'Eroica, a limited edition watch to celebrate 25 years of the exciting cycling event in Gaiole in Chianti.

Unimatic X L'Eroica

Experiencing the magic of two wheels, without timekeeping and with a deliberately absent final classification: this and much more is L'Eroica, a bicycle race that runs through the entire Valdichiana area, along white roads, to the finish line in the Val d'Orcia. The participants in the 25th edition, staged on the first weekend in October, numbered more than eight thousand cyclists wearing their customary woollen jerseys and riding their bikes dated before 1987 and with very precise requirements to meet: steel frame, gear levers on the down tube, brake wires outside the levers, pedals with cages, wheels with a minimum of 32 spokes and low-profile rims.

Unimatic wished to pay tribute to this evocative event with a limited edition watch, the Model Uno ref. U1-ER, created in collaboration with L'Eroica. Its main features include a 40 mm diameter steel case, water-resistant to 300 metres, and a Seiko NH35A calibre automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve.

The degradé dial, which changes from red in the central zone to black in the peripheral ring, features the L'Eroica logo with the characteristic lettering reproduced at 12 o'clock, luminescent geometric hands and indexes, as well as the tip of the "reverse lollipop" seconds hand, domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective treatment on the inside, allowing optimal visibility in all light conditions, and Made in Italy wording at 6 o'clock. Also reminiscent of racing is the perforated black calfskin strap, reminiscent of vintage-inspired cycling shoes (an additional Nato nylon strap is included).

The case back is also personalised with the engraving of the logo evoking the 25th anniversary of L'Eroica and the individual progressive serial number. The Model One ref. U1-ER is available exclusively on https://timeunique.com/prodotto/unimatic-u1-eroica/at a retail price of 670 Euro excluding VAT.
