The magic touch of Breguet

A minute hand that changes shape depending on its position on the dial. Once again, an ingenious idea by Breguet.

Breguet Reine de Naples

What does this hand, with its characteristic heart shape, look like on the two new Reine de Naples watches? It is made up of two arms, connected at the top but independent of each other, which move at different speeds as the minutes pass, making the hand more elongated at 12 o'clock and more rounded at 6 o'clock. An ingenious interplay of gears based on a novel mechanism that boasts more than one patent and features an ovoid cam.

Both watches sport a 36.5 x 28.45 mm white gold case and a blue alligator strap. Inside is a self-winding mechanical movement, calibre 78A0, with silicon balance spring and escapement. Through the sapphire crystal opening in the case back, it is possible to admire the platinum oscillating weight, as well as the côtes de Genève motif and anglage finishing.

There are also several distinguishing features between the two models. The first, in a limited edition of only 20 pieces, features a blue mother-of-pearl dial with an hour window in the central area while the minutes, at the quarters, are decalised and dusted in silver. A further touch of preciousness comes from the diamonds that sparkle on the flange, bezel, crown, lugs and buckle.
