Zenith for collectors

Second act in the Zenith Icons programme, with which the House of Le Locle is offering a new chance to its iconic vintage watches.

Zenith Icons

If the first part of the programme focused on El Primero's first and most emblematic animated watches launched since 1969, "Icons: Act II - The Space Age" takes a leap into the future with models featuring a space-age design in the style of the 1970s and with additional functions integrated into the aforementioned calibre. All carefully selected, restored and certified by the manufacture's Heritage Department.

One of the most representative models is the A782 in which, for the first time, the performance of the El Primero calibre is integrated within the robust Defy line. Produced in only 1,000 pieces with this configuration, it is sought after for its blue shaded dial with striated hour markers and mirror-polished case ring, its steel case with fourteen-sided bezel and screw-down crown, and its integrated "lobster" bracelet that follows the contour of the case, initially produced by the Gay Frères company.

Among Zenith El Primero's second-generation chronographs, the A788 features a steel case with an innovative curved shape, developed from the A787 and G787 models, with no visible lugs, a galvanic blue dial with contrasting silver chronograph counters and seconds, and a pulsometric scale in place of the traditional tachymeter scale.

The A7817 is the first to integrate a complete calendar with moon phases into the El Primero calibre and is the first official model in the 'Espada' line. It is distinguished by its steel case with a fourteen-sided bezel and screw-down crown, its silver dial with emblematic galvanic blue counters, tachymeter scale and applied hour markers striped with the complete calendar and moon phases, and its integrated second-generation steel "lobster" bracelet.

The 01.0140.415, one of the rarest second-generation Zenith El Primero watches, was produced in a single batch of 500. Its space-age look boasts larger volumes, combined with a galvanic blue fixed bezel with a tachymeter scale, a distinctive feature at the time. The steel case frames a brushed galvanic blue dial with a new type of luminescent baton hour markers and an integrated second-generation steel 'lobster' bracelet.

The latest model in this series is the reference 01.0200.415 "Television/Big Blue", with a case, dark blue dial and patented push-buttons inspired by 1970s television sets. With a sloping caseband ring, the watch is completed by an integrated three-link steel bracelet bearing the new Zenith logo.
