Microbrand - Ichnos, vintage soul and Sardinian heart

Supercompressor technology, which uses water pressure to seal the case, is at the heart of the Ichnos Watches project with watches featuring a 1960s look and the colours of the Sardinian sea.

After years spent studying watchmaking (vintage divers in particular) and explaining its secrets on his YouTube channel, Pierpaolo Cassoni decided to found Ichnos, a brand that summed up all his passions, together with his partner Alessandro, an entrepreneur from the Marche region of Italy who is well-established in a completely different field. "The sea in which I learnt to swim, dive and sail is closely linked to the history of underwater watchmaking, which saw its heyday in the 1960s, when Sardinia was being rediscovered by the world.

This is how the Arcipelago model was born: a 42 mm diameter and 15.3 mm thick 'turtle' case, pressure-resistant to 20 atmospheres, double crown (to set the time and to rotate the flange) and convex sapphire crystal.

Inside, protected by a Supercompressor system with state-of-the-art gasket materials, is a Sellita SW 200 calibre with 28,800 vibrations per hour and 38 hours of power reserve.

The five versions produced so far are a tribute to the Maddalena archipelago and at the moment the first batch is already sold out. For the future, reveals Cassoni, "the Arcipelago model will become continuous, but there could be some novelties in its colours, while at the moment I am working on another diver, completely different and innovative".

For the moment, distribution is only through the brand's e-commerce channel, but plans are being made to create a small network of traditional sales outlets. Internet site and e-commerce: www.ichnoswatches.com, Instagram: @ichnos_watches.
