Blancpain Fity Fattmohs 70th AnniversaryOne of the most sought-after and appreciated models in modern sports watchmaking is undoubtedly Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms, a watch that began its diving 'career' in 1953, on the wrists of professional divers, including during countless military missions on behalf of various countries. The name referred to the degree of water resistance measured in fathoms (in nautical terminology the English equivalent of our arms(approx. 1.8 metres).

Re-launched in 2003 in the year of its 50th anniversary with three limited series of 50 pieces, which almost faithfully recalled the 1953 progenitor but brought the water-resistance figure up to 30 atmospheres, the Fifty Fathoms began its second life, becoming the standard-bearer of Blancpain's commitment to safeguarding the oceans.

Three new limited series, this time of 70 pieces, are now celebrating its 70th birthday: they are dedicated respectively to three regions of the world, Emea (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Asia-Pacific and the Americas, each identified by a serial number (I-II-III) on the dial. The main novelty is in the size of the case, restored to the original 42 mm of the '53 model. Because the new generation models are all 45 mm, apart from the limited series, which have a diameter of 40 mm.
