Microbrand - James Lamb, quicksilver on

Mixing ancient crafts and modern creativity, British engineer James Lamb has launched one of the most promising independent brands of the moment.

James Lamb

James Lamb, an engineer and watchmaker graduated from the British Horological Institute, is not the classic entrepreneur who wants to 'dress up' a new watch with a vintage design for easy commercial success. In his case, a great deal of traditional workmanship is revived in the true sense of the word, and the result is a collection born in 2021, called Origin.

James Lamb

It is based on a hypoallergenic and anti-oxidising silver case, entirely handmade by Lamb himself, and an off-centre ceramic dial set on the main enamel dial.

This is centuries-old workmanship that usually characterises high-end brands. The enamel and ceramic dials are the first eye-catcher, but the case with its classic, slim profile (10 mm) is no less noteworthy when one considers that it is handmade with lathes, file and hammer. For the movement, the reliable Sellita SW210 was chosen, hand-wound, 28,800 vibrations per hour and 42 hours of power reserve, set in five positions.

Each version, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, was produced in a limited series of 50 pieces. Also keep an eye on the next models. Website: www.jameslambwatches.com, instagram: @jameslambwatches.
