The Clock in Japan

L'Orologio in Japan

After the reportage dedicated to the Japanese manufacturer Seiko, our relations with Japan seem to be continuing. The local edition of Esquire devoted an issue to the theme of 'Buying Italian' and as Italy's leading watch magazine, we were called upon to have our say...

I imagine that not everyone 'masters' Japanese, so I quote the salient part of the interview in Italian:

Can you recommend two models from Italian brands (including Swiss Made) to Esquire readers as the watches of a lifetime?

The models I would like to recommend belong to the two most important Italian watch brands and are: Panerai Radiomir Tourbillon GMT and Bulgari Assioma Multicomplication Squelette. I chose the Panerai model, which was presented at SIHH 2009, because it has a case (in pink gold) that faithfully reproduces the design of the first Radiomir watches produced by Officine Panerai for the Italian Navy, but it is equipped with an innovative manufacture calibre with tourbillon. The Bulgari watch (in platinum) belongs to the most original and modern collection presented by the Roman House in recent years. Its design is totally Italian and it also has a multi-complicated movement inside that combines tourbillon and perpetual calendar.

For the rest, I trust the good Megumi Takahashi, author of the article, who should soon provide me with the Italian translation.
