Richard Mille at the 2012 Le Mans Classic

The next edition of the Le Mans Classic will be held from 6 to 8 July 2012. Richard Mille will of course be present at the event, as Main Partner and Official Timekeeper of this event, which has become one of the most famous classic car races in the world. The Maison is presenting two limited editions for this occasion: the RM 008 LMC and the RM 011 LMC. These two extremely technical and high-performance sports watches pay tribute to this exceptional race, a retrospective of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. Both were conceived with the same approach that precedes the construction of a racing car where the chassis, engine and body are built as a coherent whole, with maximum efficiency as the sole objective. Richard Mille chose to create a split-seconds tourbillon chronograph for the 6th Le Mans Classic, the RM 008 LMC. This watch celebrates the race in the most authentic Le Mans Classic style. Thus, the minute and seconds counters of the chronograph - indicated by the tourbillon - as well as the torque and function indicators, pick up the colours - blue and yellow - of the circuit's kerbs. Another reminder of this historic race is the Le Mans Classic logo on the dial at 12 o'clock. The case, in grade 5 titanium, is micro-bead-blasted and has a DLC coating on the case middle. The RM 011 Le Mans Classic, a limited edition of 150 pieces, is fitted with a self-winding skeleton movement with flyback chronograph and annual calendar. This watch also has a 24-hour counter, positioned at 6 o'clock, a technical refinement that pays tribute to the Le Mans Classic, and the 400 cars and drivers who take turns, from 4 pm on Saturday to 4 pm on Sunday, on the great Le Mans circuit.

The chronograph counters, hands and date at 12 o'clock take up the colours of the kerbs of the famous Sarthe circuit, as on the RM 008 LMC - in honour of the Le Mans Classic. The tonneau case, in titanium, alone requires more than 200 separate machining operations.
