In Milan with IWC

On 11 September at the Moebius in Milan, as part of the launch event for the new Pilot's Watches Chronograph, IWC invited 10 readers from among the members of L'Orologio Club to a special presentation of these models. Exclusive pieces, no longer reserved only for members of the two U.S. Navy squadrons "Royal Maces" and "Tophatters", as well as the aerobatic pilots of the "Blue Angels", and finally accessible to the public, delighted the guests in attendance. The protagonists of the meeting, organised in collaboration with our magazine L'Orologio, included the entire Pilot's Watches 2021 collection and a selection of Haute Horlogerie pieces. The event was rounded off by a Watchmaking Class: a real watchmaking lesson, to understand the workings of a mechanical watch by performing first-hand the delicate process of disassembling and reassembling a movement, with manual winding, under the guidance of a trainer from the Schaffhausen-based company. Specifically, this involved the IWC 98200 calibre, a variant of the 18,000 vib/h cal. 982 movement that equipped the Portuguese 'German edition' between 1977 and 1981. "This is an excellent initiative to get to know new models and share a passion for fine watchmaking," commented one of the members of L'Orologio Club. "IWC is one of the few brands that I have always followed because of my interest in its unique history and products," was the comment of another member. The day with IWC was accompanied by a Lunch offered by Enrico Croatti, 2 Michelin stars, chef de cuisine and gastronomic coordinator of Moebius.
