Chanel is on stage in Milan

From 15 November to 31 December 2019, Palazzo Giureconsulti in Piazza dei Mercanti 2, Milan, will host the exhibition "In Goude we trust!" presented by Chanel, under the patronage of the City of Milan. Jean-Paul Goude, the acclaimed image-maker, has been working with the Parisian label for many years. The exhibition, which he himself conceived, is divided into three sections. The first, dedicated to his work with Chanel, presents: Goude's films, "Égoïste" in 1990 and "Coco" in 1992, in which Vanessa Paradis plays a little bird; the "Chance" saga that began in 2002, culminating in the creation of the film "The Dance Audition"; an animated holographic installation entitled "The Genius of Coco Chanel" where the delicate figure of Coco flies inside a bottle of Chanel N°5; a special "Fire Installation" performance interpreted live, for the exhibition, by a number of dancers. The second section introduces Goude's most emblematic works through different means of expression: films, images, drawings, cut ektachromes as well as a selection of the light sculptures, exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2017. Within the itinerary, the installation entitled 'Notre Dame de St Mandé and the little people' is presented to the public for the first time. Third and final section: a mini-theatre integrated into the gallery presents 'So Far So Goude', a 90-minute film that offers an overview of Jean-Paul Goude's inspirations and career, from his beginnings to the present day. The childhood years in France, the collaborations with 'Esquire' magazine in New York, the relationship with Grace Jones, whose androgynous beauty fascinated the world, the former supermodel Farida Khelfa, the Bicentennial Parade of the French Revolution, the meeting with Vanessa Paradis, chosen at the tender age of 18 in 1992 for the Coco fragrance campaign, the Chance film saga.
