In No. 159 of L'OROLOGIO on page 116 we devoted an article to watches in limited series for Italy. The TP-ITA572 Opera Meccana, made by Anonimo for Bang & Olufsen and sold under a special agreement between the two companies exclusively in Italy, would have been a rightful member of the group. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to feature it on our blog. Below are the technical characteristics provided by the company.
Movement
Dubois-Depraz 2073 modular automatic chronograph, with additional plate for chronograph functions; ETA 2892A2 time base; 46 jewels, colimaçon soigné finish, adjusted 4 positions, 28,800 A/h. Power reserve: approx. 40 hours.
Modified by Anonymous with 180° rotation of the time base and elimination of the 24-hour function.
The execution of the escapement assembly is of high quality, already provided for eventual chronometer certification. An upper module is added to this time base for additional functions.
Functions
Hours, minutes in centre, small seconds at 3 o'clock, chronograph seconds (60) and minutes (60) in centre, hour counter (12) at 6 o'clock.
Case
Titanium alloy Gr.5, aerospace and biomedia certified Ti-6Al-4V non-magnetic, ISO 5832/3 microblasted and subsequent TiHard™ hard anodising process.
Dimensions: height at the tips of the lugs: 54.50 mm; maximum dimensions at the crown/corrector button: 48.80 mm; nominal diameter: 46.00 mm; maximum thickness: 18.80 mm; strap width 22.00 mm. One-piece construction with a single element performing the functions of central part (case middle) and back, closed at the top by a bezel. The bezel is secured by external stainless steel screws and tie rods, Thorx type (5 in total). Screw-locked main crown at 9 o'clock; chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock. Strap fastening screws with hexagon socket head and lower screw with special head allowing access to the winding stem release.
All the above accessories are made of stainless steel. Flat sapphire top glass.

At 6 o'clock: chronograph hour counter; at 3 o'clock: continuous seconds counter. The chronograph counter and chronograph minute counter are coaxial with hands in the centre of the dial. These hands are reset not at 12 o'clock but at 1 o'clock for greater clarity and readability.
Decal of the main hour markers in luminescent material for high visibility day and night.
Hours, minutes, continuous seconds, minute counter, hour counter with luminescent treatment; the seconds counter sphere is painted in a colour contrasting with the dial.
