Audemars Piguet - Art Basel Miami 2014

art-basel-2014-miami.620.316.sA global partner of Art Basel for the second consecutive year, Audemars Piguet announces its collaboration with the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, Massachusetts, which will bring Theo Jansen's Strandbeests, imposing creatures made from an intricate weave of PVC pipes and powered by wind energy, to Art Basel Miami Beach. From 3 to 7 December, some of these creations will populate a popular stretch of beach in Miami Beach. Every day, visitors will be able to meet Jansen, who is intent on demonstrating his works on the beach. These include the Animaris Suspendisse, a nearly 12.8-metre-long reproduction of Theo Jansen's atelier, and an exhibition of photographs of the Strandbeests, signed by Lena Herzog. This initiative complements the exhibition dedicated to Audemars Piguet watches, whose stand was designed by the well-known French designer Mathieu Lehanneur and is located in the Collectors' Lounge organised during Art Basel 2014.
