Blancpain - Watch for Only Watch

We return to talk about the upcoming Only Watch event, the special charity auction that takes place every two years in Monaco, during the Monaco Yacht Show, under the patronage of His Highness Prince Albert II. To our credit, we are pleased to recall that the first watch brand to embrace the noble cause of the Only Watch auction was Blancpain in 2001. Thus, among the forty unique pieces being auctioned and for which it is easy to predict a glorious collector's future, we would like to highlight the Villeret Grande Décoration, Ref. 6615-3631-55B from the House of Le Brassus. This is an extraordinary exercise in style that, starting with a classic ultra-flat model, gives us an example of the highest horological craftsmanship and savoir-faire. The fiery enamel dial with equally enamelled hour markers forms a backdrop to the red gold hands and hides the Calibre 15B from view, which is instead revealed on the back side. Here is the real masterpiece, with the imagination of master engraver Marie-Laure Tarbouriech, who has recreated the panorama of the Rock of Monte Carlo and its surroundings on the movement's bridges. The decoration is entirely handmade by Marie-Laure, who was recently awarded the prestigious 'Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France' award. It is a unique piece.
