Breguet Type XX: A long-awaited return

Two new-generation Type XXs, equipped with a totally new calibre: this is the big news unveiled by Breguet after four years of intensive work.

Breguet presents two new Type XXs, powered by two brand new high-frequency (36,000 vibrations per hour) self-winding mechanical movements. The first, named Type 20 Chronographe 2057 and inspired by the models delivered to the French Air Force between 1955 and 1959, features a black dial revisited in a modern key. It features mint green luminescence on hour markers and hands, a 30-minute chronograph counter, now more impressive than the continuous seconds counter, and a date window between 4 and 5 o'clock.

The 42 mm steel case, in continuity with the models of the time, features a bi-directional, fluted non-graduated bezel and a crown that echoes the original 'poire' shape.

The second, named Type XX Chronographe 2067 and inspired by the civil models of the 1950s and 1960s, features a chronograph minute counter on 15 units, again larger than the continuous seconds counter, and one dedicated to the chronograph hours, absent in the first; as well as ivory-coloured luminescence on hour markers and hands. The indications are completed by small seconds at 6 o'clock and a date window, again placed between 4 and 5 o'clock. Another 42 mm steel case, but this time with a graduated bezel and straight crown.

Equipped with a calfskin strap and an additional black Nato strap, both perfectly interchangeable, as mentioned, they are powered by the new automatic calibres 7281 (Type 20 Chronographe 2057) and 728 (Type XX Chronographe 2067), with flyback function and silicon balance spring and escapement.
