Power of line, solidity of case, unprecedented architecture: the Calibre de Cartier watch, born in 2010, is the new emblem of established masculinity. The dial reinterprets with virility the codes of Cartier haute horlogerie, such as the Roman numerals and the bezel located on the flange, strong distinguishing features that make it utterly recognizable. In 2014, this Manufacture timepiece with a strong character opens a new chapter in Cartier's watchmaking history with a diver's version: the Calibre de Cartier Diver. A masculine watch par excellence, at once everyday and extreme, the Calibre de Cartier Diver takes up the challenge by bringing together the stylistic demands of the Maison and the technical constraints imposed by the ISO 6425 standard, which sets out the eight reliability requirements for defining a watch as "diver's watch" and provides for an extremely rigorous testing protocol. A unidirectional rotating bezel, water-resistance to 300 metres, hands and a superluminova time indicator: the Calibre de Cartier Diver watch meets all the criteria of a diver's watch imposed by the aforementioned international standard, to the extent that it is engraved on the back with the words "Diver's watch 300 m". To prevent unintentional rotation or mishandling, the rotating bezel is unidirectional. The 120-notch design (40 teeth and 3 points) allows for high-precision adjustment at the half-minute mark and a sharp, precise sound when rotated. For greater visibility, the indices marking the 5-minute intervals are also clearly marked. In the darkness of the deep sea, on the Calibre de Cartier Diver's watch, the reference points for reading are clearly visible thanks to the superluminova treatment of the time-keeping indicators: the hours and minutes display, the presetting device and the small seconds counter. During diving, watches are subjected to extremely high pressure and extreme external conditions (saltiness, thermal shock, etc.). To cope with such conditions, the Calibre de Cartier Diver's watch is equipped with a thick crystal, a screw-down case back, oversized gaskets and a screw-down crown guaranteeing resistance to 300 metres. Resistance to salt water was tested by immersion in a sodium chloride solution (30g/l) between 18 and 25°C for 24 hours. Furthermore, after immersion at a depth of 30 centimetres for 50 hours, again between 18 and 25°C, the watch's function under water remains unchanged. Mindful of the balance of dimensions, the Manufacture's master watchmakers have designed an authentic diver's watch without compromising on the comfort requirements of the daily wearer by creating a case of perfect proportions only 11 millimetres thick. A technical marvel that represents the meeting point between diver's watchmaking and haute horlogerie according to Cartier, with an interplay of contrasting polished and satin-finished finishes, and a rotating bezel coated with ADLC and profiled by a groove that recalls the indentation inside the bezel of the Calibre de Cartier. A strong sign of belonging, like the oversized, luminescent XII number. In a steel-only or pink gold version on a black rubber strap, the Calibre de Cartier Diver reaffirms the characteristics of the very first Calibre de Cartier, created in 2010. Same powerful lines, same solid case, same Manufacture 1904 MC movement.
