The Cartier Santos-Dumont XL watch is born, characterised by an entirely new design and proportions. The change in proportions between this model and its predecessors is clearly visible on the wrist. The dial, with its generous lines, is broader and reveals an essential elegance. The transformation does not, however, affect the subtlety of the case, which remains unchanged, nor the refined aesthetics of a model with an unmistakable style, from the sword-shaped hands to the circular-grained winding crown, from the satin-finished sunray dial to the caseback engraved with the initials S=D, the signature of Alberto Santos-Dumont. At the heart of the watch is the calibre 430 MC, a hand-wound mechanical movement.
