Who's afraid of Vacheron Constantin Masks?

Chi ha paura delle Maschere di Vacheron Constantin?

Sometimes models are made that, at first glance, are completely misunderstood, only to come out of the vaults a few years later to land million-dollar listings at auctions. This could be the fate of the first four 'Les Masques' models of Vacheron Constantin's new Métiers d'Art collection presented at the 2007 Geneva Salon. Their production process is unique: each year, for three consecutive years, a set of four different masks will be presented in a limited series of 25 pieces. Eventually, the complete collection will comprise 12 masks for a total of 300 watches.

For their creation at Vacheron Constantin, they started with an unusually compelling idea for a contemporary manufacturer: watchmaking is an art that requires new insights and continuous improvement, so how else can it continue to surprise? It was then decided, quite simply, to go back to the origins, following a long journey that took the company through time and space in search of the very roots of man, focusing on one of the most beautiful expressions of the soul: the mask. This choice was also facilitated by the fact that the city of Geneva has the "fortune" of housing one of the most important museums of primitive art, the Barbier-Mueller, and it was precisely its proximity that guided Vacheron Constantin in its final choice.

Each watch is equipped with a calibre 2460G4 automatic movement. This mechanism was developed in 2005 for the Les Métiers d'Art collection, "Les 4 Saisons" and bears the Hallmark of Geneva.
