Chopard opens Milan Fashion Week

1ALF_8839Chopard opened this year's Milan Fashion Week with a special event dedicated to the 40th anniversary of one of its most iconic collections: the Happy Diamonds. To mark the occasion, a cocktail party was held last Tuesday 23rd February at the boutique in Via della Spiga, in the heart of the fashion quadrilateral, in the presence of Caroline Scheufele, co-president and artistic director of Chopard. Since 1976, Happy Diamonds have cheerfully illuminated the eponymous creations of the Maison Chopard: year after year, the famous mobile diamonds have taken centre stage in the collections of watches and jewellery that are as precious as they are festive. It all began during a walk in the Black Forest in the 1970s, when Ronald Kurowski, the Maison's designer at the time, was astonished at the sight of a waterfall and the thousands of sparkling water droplets flowing from it, reflecting the sunlight and recreating all the shades of the rainbow. From this vision, an ingenious idea arose in his mind: in order for the diamonds to express all their sparkle, they had to be freed from the clasp and allowed to move freely. This is how the Happy Diamonds concept was born, and it quickly became a signature of the Maison, capable of expressing all their emblematic and spirited character in the rhythm of their many variations. Dancing, shiny and cheerful, the Happy Diamonds have marked the great hours of the Chopard maison. Over the years, Caroline Scheufele has always successfully reinvented them, as one can be daring with mobile diamonds, and these gems have been declined in a wide selection of watches, necklaces, pendants, rings and earrings.
