Chopard per l’arte

Last weekend saw the 2008 edition of 'Capolavori da scoprire - dal cortile al Ninfeo' (Masterpieces to be discovered - from the courtyard to the Nymphaeum), which allows the public to admire the secret and precious art of Rome's most important families. This year the doors of two famous Roman historical residences were opened: Palazzo Sacchetti, where it was possible to visit the marvellous Nymphaeum dating back to the mid-16th century which has just been restored, and Palazzo Sforza Cesarini, with the painting 'Muzio Scevola davanti a Lars Porsenna' (Muzio Scevola before Lars Porsenna) by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri known as Guercino, which has just been restored and is of very recent attribution (it is currently on loan to the Pinacoteca Civica di Cento).

The event, initiated by the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane del Lazio, was realised with the support of Chopardhas always been sensitive with events and charities to various types of social problems, from medical research to the protection of art, architecture and the environment.

The event was preceded, on Thursday 2 October in the Sala dei Mappamondi of Palazzo Sacchetti, by the conference 'The Restoration and Enhancement of Private Cultural Heritage'.
