Corum awards the winners of the Jules Verne Trophy

blog_145 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes and 53 seconds: this is the new record for the Jules Verne Trophy, the non-stop round-the-world team race. As partner and official timekeeper for this legendary competition of the sailing world, Corum accompanied the crew of Loick Peyron and the Maxi Banque Populaire V in achieving this important record. As a tribute to the Banque Populaire V team's victory, Corum dedicated a brand new model, the "Trophée Jules Verne 2011-2012", to the 14 members of the team. On 6 January 2012, at 11 pm, 14 minutes and 35 seconds, the stopwatch stopped to mark the victory achieved by the 14 men during their race around the world. Today, to make this victory immortal and to reward them for such a great achievement, Corum presented each member of the Maxi Trimaran team with an Admiral's Cup Seafen launched in 1960. The dial bears the inscription "Tropheé Jules Verne 2011-2012" while the back is engraved with the course. Each model is personalised with the name of the crew member. Corum invited the men of the "Maxi Trimaran Banque Populaire V" team to La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland on Monday 2 April 2012 to present them with their "trophies", a symbol full of meaning that is destined to become their faithful companion for the rest of their lives. Antonio Calce, CEO of Corum, said: "It's a great pleasure to see the Maxi Banque Populaire V team reunited with Corum in La-Chaux-de-Fonds as they are about to discover our workshops. The fact that each team member has personally come here to receive their Jules Verne Trophy watch, with their name engraved, is a very powerful message. Their presence demonstrates the aim of our partnership and the sense of support that Corum develops with its partners. I would like to thank all the team members for being present.blog_2
