Cuervo y Sobrinos and Macanudo: a winning combination

3191.1MAC_black backgroundLast November, at the Cigar Shop Macanudo boutique in Copenhagen, representatives of Cuervo y Sobrinos and Macanudo unveiled the fruit of their collaboration: a limited edition watch made at Cuervo y Sobrinos' watchmaking atelier whose colours recall the Macanudo cigar brand. The watch, entirely manufactured in Switzerland, bears Macanudo's 'M' mark. The revisited logo is strongly future-oriented and the orange colour echoes the Inspirado cigar range. Each watch is presented in an exquisite box, an authentic cedarwood cigar humidor in the colours of Macanudo Inspirado. Only 50 examples will go on sale, exclusively in Macanudo boutiques in New York, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. "We are really excited about this collaboration with a brand that is so well-known to cigar lovers." Maria Luisa Giannini, Managing Director of Cuervo y Sobrinos, tells us. "Cuervo y Sobrinos was born in Cuba in 1882, initially as a jewellery business. Watches became the heart of the company only a few years later and we are now sought after by the most discerning watch lovers'. 'It's a new chapter that opens for Macanudo' comments Mark Renard, project co-ordinator and Trade Marketing Manager of Scandinavian Tobacco, owner of Macanudo. "The two brands do, in fact, appeal to the same audience. The two partners were keen to greet Mr Marko Bilic, founder of the Cigar Smoking World Championship, who was also present in Copenhagen; it was he who facilitated their meeting for this project. A rather logical partnership, considering that the official cigar of the competition is a Macanudo and that the time keeper of the tournament is Cuervo y Sobrinos.
