Eberhard & Co - Waiting for the Gran Premio Nuvolari

The countdown is on to one of the most eagerly awaited events in the world of historic car racing: the Gran Premio Nuvolari, the famous regularity race now in its 23rd year, will start on 20 September from Piazza Sordello in Mantua. Marking the chimes that will bring more than 300 jewels of the road to the starting line will be Eberhard & Co. once again. "The Nuvolari remains for us the event to which we are closest, for the importance that the race has - this year the great Italian and foreign top drivers of the speciality will be measured on the edge of hundredths of a second - but above all for the charm and fascination of a competition in which "you can breathe" behind every curve and along every straight the myth of one of the greatest drivers of all time," says Mario Peserico CEO of Eberhard Italy. The winners in each category will win an Eberhard & Co watch as a prize. In addition, the new model of the Tazio Nuvolari collection will be officially presented in Italy on the occasion of the Gran Premio Nuvolari: "Tazio Nuvolari Vanderbilt Cup Naked". The iconic Vanderbilt Cup collection, which the Maison dedicates to one of the legendary driver's most prestigious victories, is enriched with a new and exclusive variant characterised by an even more decisive personality thanks to its "total black" dial. It is a mechanical chronograph with automatic winding, water-resistant, with sapphire crystal and a black dial for the first time since the previous "Tazio Nuvolari - Vanderbilt Cup" references, and with white Arabic numerals. The chronograph reset button is inserted, as in the other timepieces in the collection, coaxially to the regulating crown and re-issues the Eberhard & Co chronographs with coaxial control from the 1930s. Compared to previous versions, the case is lighter in that it lacks the second case back: hence the particular name Naked. Better known to motoring enthusiasts, this term identifies models without a fairing that reveal details of the engine, just as the movement of the Vanderbilt Cup 'naked' version can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The back is also screen-printed with the rider's signature.
