Today marks the end of the 32nd edition of the Festival International de la Plaisance, a major boat show held annually in Cannes. Main sponsor of the event, the Maison Blancpain presented the event version of the new 500 Fathoms (launched at BaselWorld 2009), produced in a limited series of 50 pieces. A 48-millimetre diameter titanium case, water-resistance guaranteed to 100 atmospheres, helium escape valve, dial with phosphorescent background, rotating bezel, automatic 1315 calibre (with oscillating weight in the shape of a boat propeller): these are the salient features of the 500 Fathoms, which in this special edition features the "Cannes 2009" inscription engraved on the plate.
