Overseas is the name of a collection Franck Mullerlaunched by the Swiss distributor of the Royal Toys brand, which has been active in several Mediterranean countries for over 30 years. A watch that expresses a new concept of the Franck Muller world: starting with the Vanguard case, the idea was to aim for maximum balance and essentiality, renouncing the superfluous and anything that is not functional to the mere reading of the time.
The Vanguard case, a more daring and sporty reinterpretation of the famous tonneau shape of the Cintrée Curvex, softened by a slight curvature of the sides, presents a more compact size with an accentuated curvature. Despite its generous shape (41 x 50 mm), comfort on the wrist is ensured by a thickness of 9.10 mm and the shaping of the ergonomic lines of the profile. Water resistance is 3 atmospheres.
It comes in three variants, all limited editions. The first, of 50 pieces, is made of grade 5 titanium with a sandblasted finish and a blue anodised aluminium insert on the case middle. The bracelet is in titanium, but an additional second strap in brown rubber with a suede insert is also provided. The sun-blue dial has applied matt titanium hour markers and skeleton hands, which leave room only for the auxiliary small seconds counter at 6 o'clock.
The other two versions are being produced in 30 pieces each: in 5N pink gold with gold-plated hour markers and hands, equipped with a brown rubber strap with leather insert with brown stitching; in blackened titanium with matt titanium hour markers and hands and a black rubber and leather strap with grey stitching. An additional second strap in blue rubber and leather is provided for both versions.
In all models, the sapphire crystal case back reveals the ultra-thin FM 708 automatic calibre, just 3.85 mm thick, with a 38-hour power reserve and a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Beautiful decorations: côtes de Genève on the hand-bevelled bridges and rotor, blued screws, circular-grained patina.
Oltremare is sold in a special package that also offers a personalised pen and notebook as a gift. It is only available in selected sales outlets, including, for Italy, Barresi Preziosi in Cremona.
