Garmin Italy - Beat Yesterday Awards 2020

The journey of Garmin's Beat Yesterday Awards 2020 officially began yesterday. In a very special year in many respects, the format of the project launched by Garmin Italia, now in its fifth edition, is renewed in form and puts the spark from which everything originates, namely passion, at the centre of the narrative. "The year that is drawing to a close has been characterised by great changes, which have left their mark on the lives of all of us, but even the most difficult situations can provide great motivation, allowing us to look to the future with even greater ambition,' said Stefano Viganò, CEO of Garmin Italia, 'and so it is that in this edition of the Beat Yesterday Awards we wanted to reward the sporting feats 'of tomorrow', selecting six projects that will see their realisation in 2021, which we hope will be more serene for everyone. The projects selected by Garmin Italia are the result of a scouting exercise that began last July and saw the nomination of more than 240 profiles and projects. From among these, the six that best embodied the spirit of the Beat Yesterday Awards 2020 have been selected, and will therefore be able to count on Garmin's support throughout the approach and preparation phases of their venture. In fact, the company will offer them tools and technical training, but above all the chance to rub shoulders with big names in the world of sport and get valuable advice from them that will help them achieve their dream. Among the Garmin ambassadors who have made their experience available, in the world of cycling we find Davide Cassani, alongside a 30-year protagonist of the multi-discipline such as triathlete Daniel Fontana. For those who are literally aiming high, we could not miss the preparation of Bergamo mountaineer Simone Moro, fresh from the announcement of his new winter expedition. And because the world can also be discovered by travelling on motorbikes along endless roads or sailing the seas, Alessandro Botturi and Giovanni Soldini complete this exclusive team of 'tutors'. Last but not least, Daniele Piervincenzi, who lent his face to the initiative. The six winning projects of the Garmin Beat Yesterday Awards 2020 are as follows:

- Samuele Meucci, from Florence to Pejo by bike and on foot, taking a trip down memory lane;

- Paolo Cazzaro and a single goal: the paracycling hour record;

- Nicolò Pancini, riding with his father around the Mediterranean Sea;

- Erica Fre', from Biella to Assisi by bike;

- Alessio Alfier: swimming, cycling and climbing overcome every obstacle;

- Nicola Livadoti and his wife: a new life on board a hybrid boat.
