Girard-Perregaux in support of Blue Forest

Girard-Perregaux,is pleased to sponsor the artistic and environmental project 'Blue Forest', conceived by the artist and architect Lucio Micheletti and selected by the Venice Art Biennale, which will run until 24 November 2013. This Land Art performance aims to raise awareness of the issue of respecting the environment by using art. The tree trunks are wrapped in a blue fabric ribbon, creating a temporary, high-impact scenography. The colour blue, present in nature but here highlighted within a specific context, prompts the viewer to wonder what message the artist wanted to convey. The appearance of the trees is simplified to make it clear how little is needed to change one's environment: small elementary gestures can help to safeguard it. "Forêt Blue" implements the metamorphosis of an environment in a spectacular but ephemeral way, taking into account the ecological balance of the place and using natural materials. Support for the 'Blue Forest' project is another of Girard-Perregaux's responsible collaborations, such as the association with Susan and David Rockefeller to raise awareness of the need to protect the environment and in particular the oceans, the FOReverglades limited edition with the artists of the Cracking Art Group, who are working for the preservation of the Everglades in Florida or, most recently, its support for the 'Tohoku Manufacture area', located in the Fukushima region of Japan, in order to help local craftsmen in their reconstruction efforts. A number of ink drawings signed by Lucio Micheletti and inspired by 'Blue Forest' will be presented in the windows of Girard-Perregaux boutiques and customised to represent glimpses of the cities that host them.
