Girard-Perregaux, in collaboration with Bamford Watch Department, presents a fascinating re-edition of a 1960s dive model, the Deep Diver, in a limited edition of 350 pieces.
The Deep Diver of Girard-Perregaux returns in a new limited edition of just 350 pieces, combining the retro charm of the model launched in 1969 with contemporary watchmaking technology. This exclusive collaboration with Bamford Watch Department marks an important milestone in the Legacy Editions by Girard-Perregaux (inaugurated with the re-editions of the famous Casquette), re-proposing an iconic watch in the brand's history.
The new Deep Diver uses a cushion-shaped case made of grade 5 titanium measuring 40.3 x 38 mm (thickness is 13.91 mm), water-resistant to 200 metres (20 atmospheres). The watch is powered by the calibre GP03300 (28,800 vib/h, bridges and rotor decorated with côtes de Genève, circular-grained plate). It is an in-house movement entirely developed in La Chaux-de-Fonds. With a thickness of only 3.36 mm, this automatic calibre guarantees an power reserve of at least 46 hours.
The aesthetic of the new Deep Diver is a direct homage to the creative audacity of the 1960s and 1970s. The dial, featuring a beautiful combination of blue, orange and white tones, echoes the iconic design of the 1971 edition. The bezel with 14 facets, which anticipated the shape of the iconic Laureato, is re-proposed faithful to the original.
The hands and indices are coated with luminescent material that emits a blue light in poor visibility conditions. The screw-down case back with a blue metallised sapphire crystal porthole is decorated with the trident emblem, a symbol of the watch's diving tradition. Also on the dial is the vintage Girard-Perregaux logo at 12 o'clock and the Bamford logo at 6 o'clock. At 3 o'clock is the date window. The crystal is an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver: double strap
The watch comes with two rubber straps, orange and blue, with a titanium pin buckle.
Versatility is a key element of the new Deep Diver. Equipped with an integrated quick release system, the rubber strap can be easily replaced without the use of tools. Each one comes with a blue and an additional orange strap, offering the owner the possibility of customising the appearance of the watch.
The Deep Diver is equipped with two crowns, one at 2 (useful for rotating the rehaut to calculate decompression times) and the second at 4, for setting the time and winding the movement.
Produced in only 350 pieces, the Deep Diver Legacy Edition also represents a possible investment opportunity for collectors. This re-edition is not a simple replica of the past, but a modern reinterpretation that combines the heritage of Girard-Perregaux with the contemporary touch of Bamford Watch Department.
