Grand Seiko: elegance in the foreground

The Japanese manufacturer is launching a new model in the Elegance collection, inspired by a timepiece presented in 2001.

Grand Seiko Elegance SBGW301

Inspired by a model presented by Grand Seiko Twenty-three years old, the Elegance with Ref. SBGW301 is characterised by an extremely essential and elegant design, emphasised by a matt ivory dial on which only the hour, minute and seconds hands are placed. Both the Dauphine hour/minute hands and the geometric hour markers are facetted, while the Grand Seiko logo appears at 12 o'clock.

The 37.3 mm-diameter by 11.7 mm-thick steel case houses the IWC-manufactured 9S64 calibre (28,800 vibrations per hour, 24 jewels, 72-hour power reserve, -3 to +5 seconds per day), which is hand-wound and visible from the screw-down caseback side. Both the barrel spring and the balance spring are made of an alloy Grand Seiko owns called Spron. This is a particularly elastic, solid and corrosion-resistant material.

Grand Seiko Elegance SBGW301Equipped with a box-type anti-reflective sapphire crystal to protect the dial and water-resistant to 3 atmospheres, the new Seiko Elegance SBGW301 is paired with a black crocodile strap with a steel buckle.

Price5,100 euro.
