Gucci presents a new version of the Play model, created in the 1980s and featuring the unmistakable interchangeable bezel.
First launched in the mid-1980s, the watch Gucci Play immediately caught the eye for its highly successful design due to the use of interchangeable coloured bezels, a revolutionary concept at the time. Now the company is offering a new reinterpretation, while obviously retaining the aforementioned interchangeable bezels.
In particular, there are six interchangeable bezels - in green, red, pink, white, black and navy blue, as well as Gucci's signature colour combination of green and red - and especially nowadays made of high quality ceramics.
The diameter of the yellow gold steel case has been slightly increased to 28 mm for a more contemporary presence on the wrist. The case is matched by a matt white dial, on which are baton-shaped hands, a baton-style index at 12 o'clock, the company name at 12 o'clock and the Gucci logo at 6 o'clock.
Gucci Play: six interchangeable ceramic bezels
The yellow gold-coloured steel case has a diameter of 28 mm and houses a quartz movement.
Compared to the 1980s model, in which the bezel was screwed on, today, for greater practicality, an updated click mechanism firmly attaches the bezel itself to the case. The pressure-locked crown is personalised, as is the hook clasp on the bangle bracelet. The back, in yellow gold-coloured steel, is closed by means of four screws.
Powered by a quartz movement, calibre YA151543, the new Gucci Play features a yellow gold bangle-style bracelet. The sapphire crystal protecting the dial is anti-reflective and water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 5 atmospheres.
Price2,500 euro.
