Gucci launches a new digital collaboration project

Gucci has launched several collaborative projects aimed at sharing its vision in the digital space. Alessandro Michele, the House's Creative Director, recently invited several visual artists from around the world to contribute their unique and personal point of view on Gucci's G-Timeless automatic timepiece. Alessandro Michele therefore asked several visual artists (illustrators, painters and digital artists) to give free rein to their imagination by creating images that include various models of the G-Timeless automatic watch. For all of them, the challenge was to interpret the watches in their own way and in a creative way, highlighting in particular the G-Timeless' signature element, namely the bee motif, first used by Gucci in the 1970s, which is the main decorative element on the stone dials of these watches, where it acts as an hour marker. The artists are as representative of the international community as ever. While some, such as Winnie Chi, from China, and Kieron Livingstone, from the UK, have already collaborated with Gucci, most are new talents to the House, such as Oh de Laval and Tishk Barzanji, both based in London, Balfua from California, David Macho from Spain and Andrey Kasay from Russia. Other artists include US-based Margot Ferrick and British artist Cambo, whose work for this project has already been previewed on Gucci's Instagram account as a teaser, along with Winnie Chi, who presented an animation. Although each artist contributed a deeply personal vision, all the works share a dreamy and surreal mood, perfectly in line with Gucci's eclecticism. The Gucci G-Timeless timepiece features a stone dial decorated with the House's famous bees, while the transparent case back allows a glimpse of the automatic movement that animates it. There are a total of eight variants of the G-Timeless, all Swiss-made, with 38 mm or 42 mm cases. Three models combine 18-carat yellow gold cases with black onyx, brown tiger's eye or green malachite dials. Five further variants combine steel cases with dials in blue lapis lazuli or black onyx.
