Hublot Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black

Hublot regularly makes use of great creative personalities such as Shepard "Obey" Fairey, Marc Ferrero, Richard Orlinski and Maxime Plescia-Büchi. This team of ambassadors is now joined by one of the world's most recognised living artists, Takashi Murakami. His work proposes a subtle reflection between Japanese tradition and pop culture. A true rock star of contemporary art, it was he himself who coined the name Superflat for the artistic current of which he is the initiator. A first visit to the Hublot manufacture in February 2020 enabled Takashi Murakami to familiarise himself with watchmaking and chronograph design. This encounter set in motion a creative process that resulted in the innovative Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami, inspired by Murakami's emblem, the humanised flower. The result is the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black, which takes up the concept of the All Black, one of the Maison's most emblematic creations. Introduced by Hublot in 2006, the All Black style is also part of Murakami's creative universe. For an even more striking effect, the petals and the face of the flower are set with black diamonds, 456 on the former and 107 on the latter. The watchmakers in Nyon inserted their in-house Unico calibre in the case of the emblematic Classic Fusion design, a movement offering a 72-hour power reserve. The first collaboration between Hublot and the Japanese artist, the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black (with a 45 mm black ceramic case) will be produced in only 200 pieces. "Takashi Murakami is an international star, not only in the world of contemporary art, but also for the general public. He blurs the boundaries between art and pop culture. To see him join our team of Ambassadors is a real privilege. We are very pleased to launch this watch and work of art', said Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot.
