Mido chose Bilbao for the launch of its brand new Ocean Star Tribute to mark the 75th anniversary of the iconic collection from which it takes its name. Two models have been created that feature many references to the diver's watches of the 1960s. Their dials, blue or black, are protected by sapphire crystal and topped by a rotating bezel in the same colour. The round 40.5 mm diameter cases and comfortable multi-link steel bracelets give them the retro look that made the original models so successful. These two Ocean Star Tribute watches are equipped with Calibre 80, a state-of-the-art automatic movement that guarantees a power reserve of up to 80 hours. The final touch is the starfish, the historic symbol of the Ocean Star, decorating the caseback. Each of these special editions is presented in a special box and accompanied by an additional strap. Among the events during the event were dives from great heights in a breathtaking competition that showcased the precision of the Ocean Star Diver 600, water-resistant to 60 bar (600 m/1,968 ft) and equipped with a helium escape valve. The bravest visitors also had access to the 27-metre high diving platform.
