L'Orologio Club members at SIHH 2011

Among the many initiatives that have seen our l'Orologio Club play a leading role, it is impossible not to mention the presence of two of our members at the 2011 edition of the SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, on 19 and 20 January), thanks to an invitation received from the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie. Here are a few impressions from our two guests: "I have been a salesman for many years, albeit in another sector, and I have seen many events, but unbridled luxury like this was the first time. (...) Each brand has tried, in the best possible way, to represent its own personality/identity' (Domenico Cabrini). For Cristiano Ianna, 'Each brand, as a reader and enthusiast, reflected very consistently the image it projects on the market. The stand that most struck the imagination of our readers was by far that of IWC, which in 'little' space managed to reconstruct the look and atmosphere of the little square in Portofino in the 1960s. The brand that, on the other hand, proved to be a new discovery, even for informed enthusiasts like our members, was Piaget - "I was struck by the history, which I thought was much less important from the point of view of movements and blazon" (Ianna) - also from the point of view of the watches presented, with its ultra-thin Emperador Coussin Turbillon Automatic. These two brands are joined by Panerai and Jaeger-LeCoultre. The former "For the charge it manages to transmit" and the latter for the undoubted appeal of the Reverso collection, which has been completely revamped for this 2011. The Montblanc/Minerva combination also caught the imagination of enthusiasts, thanks to the presentation by Demetrio Cabiddu, who was one of the architects of the Minerva's rebirth, even before its acquisition by Montblanc.
