The latest addition to Ulysse Nardin's Classico collection, Year of the Dog pays tribute to the Chinese New Year beginning in February 2018. In an 88-piece limited edition, the watch features an 18-carat pink gold case measuring 40 millimetres in diameter and a Grand Feu Champlevé enamel dial reproducing the figure of the dog in its outdoor life. The Grand Feu, so called because of the incredible heat required to melt the enamel, is combined with the Champlevé technique, which involves engraving cells with a chisel directly on the dial, which are then filled with different coloured enamels. The final step, which is also the most delicate, consists in enriching the motif by chiselling the metal parts on the surface. Guaranteed water-resistant to 5 atmospheres and fitted with an alligator strap, the watch is powered by a self-winding mechanical movement, calibre UN-815, with 42 hours of power reserve and Cosc certification.
