We previewed it in issue 161, straight from Basel 2007: it is the Instrument BR02, the new dive watch from Bell & Rossexpected to be on the market in October, with which the company changes the typical shape of its dive models (so far round: from the Hydromax to the Diver 300 and the Type Marine), borrowing some elements from the Instrument BR01 case, such as the four screws at the corners, but this time on a tonneau case.
Two objectives were the priorities of the Maison's engineers when developing this model: water resistance and legibility. To improve the display of the functions on the black dial, in fact, indices and hands have been oversized and coated with photoluminescent material for excellent visibility even in the darkness of the abyss. The same type of treatment is also used for the graduated scale up to 60 minutes on the unidirectional rotating inner bezel, for measuring dive times, activated by the crown at 2 o'clock. As far as water resistance is concerned, this is guaranteed up to a pressure of 100 atmospheres thanks also to the screw-down case back and crown fitted with oversized gaskets. On the case middle, at 9 o'clock, there is a decompression valve that allows the pressure inside the case to be balanced with the pressure outside (in the case of deep-sea diving aboard bells or bathyboats).
