At BaselWorld 2010 Bulgari presented a new self-winding mechanical movement, the BVL calibre 168, entirely designed and assembled in house. It is an 11"' ½ mechanism, 4.75 mm thick, with 25 jewels, oscillating balance at 28,800 A/h, and a 42-hour power reserve. The mainplate and bridges are in Alpacca, and the first is decorated with perlage and côtes de Genève seconds and finished with anglage. The Sotirio case housing this movement has been slightly enlarged, with the diameter now reaching 43 millimetres, while five versions are available: with a steel case and crocodile strap; with a steel case and bracelet; in steel with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment; in steel and rose gold with a steel bracelet; in rose gold with an alligator strap.
The crystal protecting the dial is made of sapphire, as is the porthole on the back, which allows one to observe the new Bulgari manufacture calibre BVL 168.
