The Rolex testimonial
Matthew Fitzpatrick triumphs in Dubai

Matthew Fitzpatrick with the DP World Tour Championship trophy.

After four days of competition, the British golfer triumphed over 60 top opponents in the Race to Dubai Presented by Rolex. Fitzpatrick finished with 273 strokes (68-68-69-68, 15 under par). For the 26-year-old golfer from Sheffield, this was his sixth title on the circuit and his second success in this tournament, following his 2016 victory. Fitzpatrick took the lead with a lightning fast start (five birdies in seven holes) and then managed the advantage. The young Englishman also joins another Rolex testimonial, Jon Rahn, having also won this prestigious tournament twice. This success also confirms Fitzpatrick as one of the best young talents on the world golf circuit. Speaking of this important victory, Fitzpatrick himself said: "I wanted to win here all week and the steps I took with my game during the previous weeks allowed me to feel that I was succeeding. I felt I was playing really well during the tournament, and I will have to process the win over the next few days." Rolex's connection with golf runs deep, and was strengthened in 1997 when the company became Official Timekeeper of the European Tour. The Rolex Series, on the other hand, was launched in 2017, as a premium event within the international programme of the European Tour, of which it represents the pinnacle.
