Next 10 February is the Chinese New Year and 2024 is the Year of the Dragon. It is not the first time that Jaeger-LeCoultre dedicates a special edition for this anniversary of its most iconic watch: the Reverso.

Indeed, the back of its rotating case was often a kind of blank page that could be personalised by engraving initials, a date or any other type of decoration. And in the case of the Reverso Tribute Enamel Dragon, the back side became the perfect canvas for showcasing the great savoir-faire of Jaeger's Métiers d'Art atelier and celebrating the Chinese New Year.

On the refined and essential Grand Feu black enamel front dial, only facetted applied hour markers, minute track and Dauhpine hands. But turning the watch's rose gold case back reveals a majestic dragon enveloped in golden clouds, engraved on the polished black Grand Feu enamel background.

In order to give an even greater sense of volume and depth, the master engraver uses a technique called 'modelled engraving', which requires maximum concentration and great dexterity.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Enamel DragonIn this case, the challenge is even more complex because the craftsman does not work on a smooth metal surface, but on an already enamelled surface. Ten chisels of different sizes are needed to sculpt the metal step by step and a good 80 hours of work.

Made to order only, it is equipped with the hand-wound Calibre 822 with a 42-hour power reserve. The strap is black alligator.
