The Garmin adventure

Garmin presents a new line of tool watches that makes research into materials and innovation its strong points. There are five models in the collection, ranging from sports to exploration and navigation: Marq Aviator, Marq Captain, Marq Driver, Marq Expedition and Marq Athlete. Each model in the Marq series has a case and back in grade 2 titanium, combining lightness and resistance in a single accessory, all enhanced by a domed sapphire crystal lens assembled with an O2-free vacuum process, which filters out the sun's rays and thus improves screen readability in all conditions. The distinctive character of each model in the collection is completed with leather straps, nylon jacquard fabric and hybrid titanium bracelets with silicone inserts, which are quickly interchangeable using Garmin's patented Quickfit system. The watches integrate an internal memory for uploading your favourite music and the Garmin Pay function that enables contactless payments. In addition, thanks to the Bluetooth connection to your smartphone, you can read push notifications directly on your wrist.

Marq Aviator
The watch, inspired by aviation, combines brushed grade 2 titanium and a polished black ceramic bezel, with 24-hour laser engravings. The bracelet links, in particular, recall the shape of a swept wing design. The buckle is equipped with a double Secure security system. These features ensure that the watch matches the technical and evocative style of a cockpit. In addition, the GMT bezel offers pilots quick access to the time with time zone reference, as well as two additional time zones represented by local airport codes and tail number within two sub-dials. The Marq Aviator software, on the other hand, offers dedicated aviation functions, including maps with flight references, airport details and advanced safety features such as Direct-to-Navigation and Nexrad Weather Radar. The worldwide airport database and integration with the Garmin air navigation system complete the navigation set.

Marq Captain
The watch is distinguished by its nautical-inspired theme, with the distinctive navy blue colour of the polished ceramic used for the bezel and a seamless nylon strap designed and manufactured in the south of France. Plus iridescent blue jacquards and titanium accents at the lugs. Marq Captain offers navigation functions that can make all the difference during a regatta: Virtual Starting Line, Time To Burn and Tack Assist. Its technology allows it to be connected to the onboard Garmin system to receive all the boat's information on the wrist, so that all the data can be analysed to best tackle a regatta.

Marq Driver
With maps of over 250 circuits around the world, this watch serves as an indispensable navigator. The design echoes the red of racing and the grey of carbon and is reflected in every detail of the watch, including the pusher embellished with CNC-machined knurled inserts and fitted with a hydrophobic oring. Entirely treated in DLC (Diamond Like Carbon), it features a ceramic tachymeter bezel with a brushed finish and a grade 2 titanium hybrid strap with silicone inserts. Its functions include automatic lap timekeeping, Auto Lap Split and detailed split time information. The Track Timer allows you to monitor car times directly from the stands. It automatically calculates the average speed and indicates it on a digital speedometer that appears on the display.

Marq Expedition
Inspired by instruments that have marked the history of expeditions, Marq Expedition features a satin-finished ceramic bezel with laser-engraved cardinal points, barometric scales on the dial and an Italian cowhide leather strap. It is equipped with a topographic map, altimeter, barometer and compass, with both automatic and manual calibration, to plan an expedition and not lose your bearings. The watch is also compatible with inReach Mini, Garmin's two-way satellite communicator: this connectivity allows users to send messages and request SOS directly from their tool watch. Finally, with the new power-saving mode built into Marq Expedition, every explorer will be able to track safely for several weeks.

Marq Athlete
A sporty theme combining carbon grey with yellow to optimise each performance. The display shows the features most relevant to sports performance; the satin-finished ceramic bezel includes a scale for a quick reading of VO2Max and recovery time. Marq Athlete includes advanced running dynamics, for precise monitoring of training and progress, sensors to monitor multiple biometric data and functions to tackle any type of competition.

With a battery life of up to 12 days in smartwatch mode, up to 28 hours in GPS mode and up to 48 hours in UltraTrac mode, the Garmin toolwatches in the Marq collection will only be available in selected watch shops from the end of March. Recommended retail price between €1,500 and €2,500 depending on the model. For information: www.garmin.com/it. The Marq collection is explored in depth in an interview article published in L'Orologio 275, due out on 21 March.
