During the second half of the Six Nations match between Italy and France (played on 3 February at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome), Martin Castrogiovanni scored a spectacular try, with which he contributed to Italy's final victory over the (at least by prediction) transalpine favourites. It was an intense and very fierce match, which saw France - who hold the fourth position in the overall standings - fall 23 to 18, with two goals scored in the first and second half, by Parisse and Castrogiovanni respectively.
