MB&F - Legacy Machine No.2

In 2011, MB&F created a watch using techniques available a century ago, the Legacy Machine No. 1. The international reception given to the LM1 exceeded all expectations, so much so that the watch won no less than two Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix in 2012, as the best men's watch and the public's prize in all categories. Today, the house has gone even further back in time, to around 250 years ago, when, with a bit of luck, we could have crossed paths with personalities who made watchmaking history, such as Ferdinand Berthoud (1727-1807), Antide Janvier (1751-1835) and Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823). These three horological geniuses are the creators of numerous inventions. In addition to this, they have an important point in common: all three experimented with double balance systems. The Legacy Machine No. 2 is a new tribute to our watchmaking ancestors. Two totally independent escapement wheels, with two Legacy-style flying balances, pulsating above the dial. And a planetary differential that transmits the average rate of the two balance wheels to a single set of wheels. To realise this second episode of the Legacy Saga, MB&F called upon the work of two particularly talented watchmakers, namely Jean-François Mojon and Kari Voutilainen. The Legacy Machine No. 2 is available in rose gold or 18-carat white gold. In addition, a limited series of 18 will be available in 950 platinum, characterised by the electric blue colour of the dial.
