Corum is pleased to announce that Miralem Pjanić, one of the best midfielders in Serie A (he plays for Juventus) and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, has joined the Swiss watch brand as Brand Ambassador. Pianjć was born on 2 April 1990 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the former Yugoslavia. As social and political tensions grew in Bosnia, Pjanić's father sought alternative solutions to get his family to safety, settling in Luxembourg shortly before the outbreak of war. Although his parents had only just arrived and did not speak the local language, they quickly learned, alternating their work schedules to ensure Miralem, his brother and sister, had a safe and successful place to grow up. Miralem progressed in the game and attracted the interest of several Belgian, Dutch and German clubs, but in 2004, at the age of 13, the talented boy made his decision and took the risk of leaving his family to join FC Metz in France. Growing up quickly through the Metz academy, he made his professional football debut in 2007 at only 17. Subsequently, Pjanić moved to another French club, Olympique Lyonnaise, in 2008, and moved to AS Roma in 2011. During his time at Roma, Pjanić - nicknamed 'The Little Prince' - established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A, finishing his best season with 10 goals and 12 assists. After attracting the attention of Juventus F.C. in 2016, Pjanić signed a €32 million contract and has since been an integral part of the team, where he has won three Serie A championships, the Coppa Italia twice and was included in the AIC Team of the Year for four consecutive years. He was also included in the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League Team of the Season for his role in Juventus' run to the final. Within the team, he is affectionately nicknamed 'The Pianist' (Bosnian for 'Pijanist') in reference to his surname and his creative role on the pitch. Throughout his career, Pjanić has particularly excelled in free kicks, becoming one of the most skilful and versatile midfielders in Europe. In total, he has scored 66 goals with over 100 decisive passes, nimbly helping his teammates with his range of short and long passes, always remaining 'calm and focused' in order to fulfil his potential. With over 100 matches won, Pjanić prides himself on hard work, precision, use of space on the pitch and accuracy that aligns his values with the art of watchmaking; hence his partnership with Corum. Corum, in turn, prides itself on creativity and boldness as its guiding principles, as well as technical excellence in the field and the use of space in both dials and movements. "It is a great pleasure for us to welcome Miralem, known as 'The Pianist', to our family," said Boon Chong Soon, global sales and marketing director of Montres Corum. "In spite of his fame and success, he has always remained true to himself and this is something we at Corum strongly believe in. His belief that simple things are always the hardest to do is perfectly in line with our iconic Golden Bridge collection, which may look simple but is actually very complicated to make compared to a normal watch'. Pjanić added: "I am very proud to be part of the Corum family. The uniqueness and avant-garde spirit of the brand are qualities I appreciate very much. A brand with unique models such as the Golden Bridge has left a strong mark on watchmaking and I believe that our collaboration will be a success. Pjanić also has a strong following on Instagram @miralem_pjanic with 4.9 million followers and on social media more generally with over 7 million followers.
