EuroTempus, Federation of the EU Watch Industry, is founded

Just a few days ago, on 22 October to be exact, the first plenary meeting of EuroTempus was held in Barcelona. This is the new European Union Federation of the watchmaking sector, which was formed the previous weeks on the initiative of the national associations of Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Spain. Its aims are: to promote the interests of the Community watch industry with the European authorities, enhancing its entire supply chain, from the finished product to sub-contracting; to develop joint initiatives on export markets and encourage the promotion of Community brands; to boost intra-Community partnerships in the field of Research and Development, such as the promotion of radio-synchronisation in industrial and consumer products thanks to improved interoperability between reception systems; and to promote information on the know-how of the European Union watch industry.Jean-Louis Burdet (France - Chambre française de l'horlogerie et des microtechniques) was elected as president for a four-year term, while Marcello Binda (Italy - Assorologi) was elected as vice-president.
