Panerai and new materials

Always keen to experiment with new materials, Panerai presents BMG-TECH this year. Used for the case of the Luminor Submersible 1950, in appearance it is similar to titanium but in a more intense grey. But it is its atomic structure that makes the difference: it is in fact a metallic glass (Bulk Metallic Glass) obtained from a special glassy alloy by a process that prevents crystallisation, i.e. the ordering of the atoms into regular geometric structures, guaranteeing greater robustness and greater resistance to corrosion, external shocks and magnetic fields. Water-resistant to a pressure of 30 atmospheres, it is equipped with a bezel with a unidirectional graduated scale for calculating diving times. The movement of the Luminor Submersible 1950 BMG-TECH 3 Days Automatic - 47mm is the self-winding P.9010 calibre, with a three-day power reserve.
