Panerai and Luna Rossa:
renewed partnership

Panerai renews its partnership with Luna Rossa ahead of the America's Cup 2027, which will take place in Naples. And presents two new dedicated Luminors.

Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa

Panerai announced the renewal of its partnership with Luna Rossa, as Official Sponsor of the Team, for the 38th America's Cup, to be held in Naples in 2027. This edition marks a historic moment. For the first time ever, in fact, the competition will take place in Italy, with Mount Vesuvius as a backdrop and a short distance from a city that is also a UNESCO heritage site.

The Luna Rossa athletes, ambassadors of Italian excellence, fully embody the founding values of Panerai: pushing the boundaries of performance, facing one's limits and embracing the adrenaline of the challenge, all in the magnificence of the sea.

On the occasion of the renewal of this prestigious collaboration, Panerai presents two new Luminor that enrich the Luna Rossa collection. These are the Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa (Ref. PAM01654) and the Luminor Luna Rossa (Ref. PAM01653). Both watches have been tested in the most extreme conditions to ensure maximum reliability, durability and functionality, drawing inspiration from Panerai's strong connection to the marine world and Luna Rossa's distinctive visual identity. Water resistance is for both up to 10 atmospheres and the strap is composite material, (black rubber and grey fabric) with central red stripe and Luna Rossa lettering.

Panerai and Luna Rossa: two dedicated Luminors

To mark the renewal of its partnership with Team Luna Rossa, Panerai has launched two new Luminors.

The Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa uses a 44 mm titanium case and is produced in a limited numbered edition of only 150 pieces. Titanium, a hypoallergenic material, offers a hardness comparable to steel, but with 44% less weight, ensuring excellent comfort on the wrist. The watch is powered by the P.9100 calibre (visible through the sapphire glass porthole on the back, 28,800 vibrations per hour, column wheel, vertical coupling), Panerai's first automatic movement with a chronograph function, characterised by the flyback function.

The 72-hour power reserve is achieved through the use of two barrels mounted in series, while the matt grey dial with sandwich structure is enhanced with red details. On the same dial, chrono minutes and seconds are at the centre, chrono hours at 3 o'clock and continuous seconds at 9 o'clock. On the flange is the tachymeter scale for nautical use. The chrono buttons are located on the left side of the case, with the one at 8 o'clock bearing the two letters 'F' (flyback) and 'R' (reset).

Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa

The Luminor Luna Rossa Three-Ball has a 44 mm case made of AISI 316LVM - 1.4441 stainless steel, an alloy known for its hardness and resistance to corrosion. It is composed of iron with a chromium (17-19%), nickel (13-15%) and molybdenum (2.5-3.2%) content. To enhance its properties, the steel undergoes a vacuum arc remelting (VAR) process, which increases its purity and the homogeneity of its microstructures, providing greater brilliance and resistance to corrosion. The watch is powered by the calibre P.6000 (21,600 vibrations per hour, manual winding movement with three days of power reserve and seconds stop function for precise time setting. The dial of both watches bears the inscription Luna Rossa at 6 o'clock.

Luna Rossa and Panerai: a partnership beginning in 2019

From 2019, the Florentine company is the Official Sponsor of Team Luna Rossa, which will participate in the America's Cup 2027, in Naples.

Panerai's involvement in the America's Cup, a symbol of nautical excellence and innovation, marks a significant chapter in its history. The partnership began in 2017, when the Maison entered the elite of sailing sport and became Official Partner of the prestigious competition and sponsor of Oracle Team USA and Softbank Team Japan. Becoming the Official Sponsor of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli for the first time in 2019, it was during the 36th America's Cup held in the Hauraki Gulf in Auckland that Panerai consolidated its ties with the team, regularly developing collections of technical watches inspired by the technologies and materials used in competition.

The sea is our origin, and we are proud to sail it with these modern heroes, offering them precision instruments for the most important challenge", said Emmanuel Perrin, CEO of Panerai.
