In the wake of the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the entry into service of the Luminor, the brand's signature luminescent substance since the middle of the last century, Panerai is once again celebrating its iconic collection with the launch of the Platinumtech Luminor Marina (Ref. PAM01116), guaranteed to be 70 years old. This special edition is on sale exclusively at Panerai boutiques and is made in just 70 pieces. Unmistakable in its case and dial layout, this new Luminor Marina employs Platinumtech for the case, an alloy reformulated and perfected by Panerai and with physical properties beyond the ordinary because it is harder than conventional platinum. This material was selected to give the model greater resistance, but at the same time it is also considerably more difficult to machine and polish. Precisely the delicate finishing of the case of the Platinumtech Luminor Marina requires a meticulous and painstaking manual polishing process. The movement used is the calibre P.9010, a self-winding mechanical movement with a 3-day power reserve, entirely designed and developed in-house at the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. A movement distinguished on a technical level by a system of rapid adjustment of the hour hand, in one-hour steps forwards or backwards, independent of the minute hand. Water-resistant to 5 atmospheres, the Platinumtech Luminor Marina is fitted with a dark brown alligator strap with écru stitching, with a brushed Platinumtech trapezoid pin buckle. A second strap, selected at the customer's request at the time of purchase, completes the equipment along with a screwdriver for replacing and removing the buckle and a black lacquered wooden box with a luminescent Luminor Marina logo on the lid.
