Parmigiani Fleurier presents a new, more compact version of the Tonda PF Chronograph, with a 40 mm steel case.
Launched three years ago, the Tonda PF collection by Parmigiani Fleurier immediately received praise from Haute Horlogerie enthusiasts. The initial collection included four models, including a chronograph with a 42 mm case.
Now the company presents a new chronograph version of the Tonda PF, with a steel case in a slightly reduced size, 40 mm in diameter by 12.75 mm thick, combined with a 'Mineral Blue' dial finely hand-guilloché engraved with Grain d'Orge motif. There remains the beautiful integrated bracelet, also in steel and with a triple folding clasp. Both case and bracelet have a double surface finish, polished and satin.
The knurled bezel surrounding the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, on the other hand, is made of 950 platinum. The very basic dial features three additional counters (for chronograph minutes at 3 o'clock, continuous seconds at 6 o'clock and chronograph minutes at 9 o'clock), as well as skeleton Delta hands and rhodium-plated 18-carat white gold hand-applied hour markers. Chronograph seconds are indicated in the centre.
Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Chronograph: manufacture calibre
The watch is powered by the in-house-made PF070 calibre.
The IWC-manufactured PF070 calibre powering the Tonda PF Chronograph No Date 40 mm is an integrated chronograph movement, chronometer-certified after testing by the Cosc. Visible through the sapphire glass porthole on the case back, the PF070 high-frequency automatic calibre (36,000 vibrations per hour) guarantees a power reserve of 65 hours.
At 6.95 mm thick, this movement uses a customised, skeletonised 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight. The decorations also include skeletonised, satin-finished and hand-bevelled bridges.
The chronograph functions are sorted by means of a column wheel. Finally, the new Tonda PF Chronograph No Date 40 mm is guaranteed water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres (100 metres).
