On the occasion of the Basel Show 2013, Patek Philippe presents the Gondolo "8 Days, Day/Date Indication" Ref. 5200, featured on the cover of L'Orologio 217. This model combines a power reserve of more than a week with date hand and day of the week window indications, both instantaneous, in an Art Deco-style white gold case. The arrangements on the dial (blue with a sunburst finish or silver-toned opalescent white) are as follows: at 12 o'clock is the power reserve (the last section in red indicates the ninth day, when the watch will need to be wound), while at 6 o'clock the date hand and small seconds are shown concentrically, with the day of the week window in between; day and date are shown simultaneously at midnight in just three milliseconds. At the heart of the timepiece, visible through the sapphire crystal on the case back, is a hand-wound mechanical movement, calibre 28-20 REC 8J PS IRM C J, with double barrel, Spiromax balance spring and Pulsomax escapement. The watch is available with a shiny navy blue alligator strap, for the version with a blue dial, or with a matt black alligator strap, for the one with a silver-coloured opalescent white dial.
